Ghana Launches High-Powered 2026 World Cup Committee: “This Is More Than Football”

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has officially inaugurated a National 2026 FIFA World Cup Committee, chaired by Minister Kofi Adams, with a sweeping mandate that goes far beyond the pitch.
For the first time, Ghana’s World Cup preparation will be treated as a whole-of-government economic, cultural, and diplomatic project, not just a sporting one.

3.Strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties with key nations during the tournament
4.Attract major sports investment and sponsorship into Ghana
5.Coordinate nationwide public mobilisation and pride

Sports Minister Kofi Adams declared:
“2026 is Ghana’s moment. On the field, we want to go further than ever before. Off the field, we want the world to see the real Ghana — vibrant, investment-ready, culturally rich, and united.”
With the Black Stars already qualified for the expanded 48-team tournament co-hosted by USA, Canada, and Mexico, the government is determined to avoid the chaos and under-preparation that plagued previous campaigns.
