Ghana Football Association President Praises FIFA’s Support for African Football
The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, lauded FIFA President Gianni Infantino for his sustained interest in the development of African football. The two presidents met in Paris to discuss the progress made so far in Ghana football and the current state of cooperation between the GFA and FIFA.
During the meeting, Infantino commended the GFA for making good use of the FIFA Forward arrangements, notably the up-gradation of the Ghana Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. The FIFA boss was impressed most with Ghana’s representation in the FIFA Talent Development Scheme and strides being made to increase female representation in football.
He, therefore, reiterated Okraku’s commitment to Ghana in terms of football development, especially with regard to the re-establishment of youth competitions and improving domestic football. He expressed gratitude to FIFA, led by Infantino himself, for their support and shared his vision for football development.
“The meeting was very productive, and we’re grateful for FIFA’s support,” Okraku said. “We have introduced more youth competitions, and our domestic competitions are back on track. We’re committed to seeing through our potential talents and getting the sport in Ghana back to its glory days.”
He revealed his satisfaction with the development efforts of Ghana, explaining, “Ghana is a football nation, and the GFA does its best to provide more youths with an opportunity to play our great game. I look forward to continuing our brilliant cooperation and watching Ghana playing in FIFA competitions again soon.”
The meeting further underlined the key relationship between Ghana and FIFA, in their joint commitment to the pursuit of even greater development of the sport in the West African nation. Okraku expressed confidence in the future of Ghanaian football off the back of positive developments and the potential for growth.
