Okraku Backs Motsepe for Second Term
Accra, Ghana – Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has publicly endorsed Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s bid for a second term as President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Okraku’s endorsement came during the WAFU B Zonal Union meeting in Addis Ababa on October 18, 2024. The West African football federations, under Okraku’s leadership, collectively urged Motsepe to stand for re-election.
“Dr. Motsepe has delivered on his promises, particularly increasing financial investments in Zonal Unions and Member Associations across Africa,” Okraku stated. “His reforms have enhanced African football and improved CAF’s financial health.”
Dr. Motsepe, CAF President since 2021, has driven reforms aimed at developing African football. His achievements include:
– Increased financial investments in Zonal Unions and Member Associations
– Improved governance and transparency
– Enhanced competitions and tournaments
The 2025 CAF elections are scheduled for March 12 in Cairo, Egypt. Candidates must submit nominations by November 12, 2024. The election will determine CAF’s next president, executive committee members, and FIFA representatives.
