Ghana Enterprises Agency Distributes Start-Up Kits to 96 Young Entrepreneurs

The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has distributed start-up kits to 96 young beneficiaries under the Business in a Box (BizBox) Project.

The event took place in Somanya in the Eastern Region.

The initiative is part of a nationwide programme designed to equip young people with entrepreneurial skills and practical tools to start and grow sustainable businesses.

Beneficiaries received training in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, small business management, customer care, and mindset development. The start-up kits provided were tailored to their specific trades and included items such as fruit juice extractors, weighing scales, blenders, sealing machines, aprons, hand sanitizers, PPEs, and packaging materials.

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Margaret Ansei, explained that the project goes beyond training by providing beneficiaries with the necessary equipment to immediately start their businesses.

“We do not just train them and leave them without start-up kits. Our focus is to make Ghanaian youth employable and place them in dignified and fulfilling jobs,” she said.

The broader programme aims to reach approximately 270,000 young people nationwide, with women making up about 70% of the beneficiaries. It is expected to be fully implemented by the end of 2027.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, noting that it would help them overcome financial barriers to starting their businesses.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment under President John Dramani Mahama to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for young people through entrepreneurship and innovation.
