Ghana Embassy in Doha Issues Urgent Shelter Advisory for Citizens in Qatar Amid Missile Attack

The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Doha has urgently directed all Ghanaians living in Qatar to immediately take shelter indoors and remain there until further notice, following a reported missile attack and its impact in the Qatari capital.

In an official security alert released on Saturday, February 28, the Embassy warned of heightened regional tensions and instructed citizens to:

  • Stay indoors and avoid exposure to danger
  • Keep away from military sites, installations, and crowded public areas
  • Stock essential supplies such as medication, food, and water
  • Obtain all updates only from official sources and verified channels

The advisory reads in part: “NOTICE: Due to missile attack and its impact in Doha, please take shelter until further notice, obtain information from official sources. We urge everyone to stay away from military sites, remain indoors, avoid crowded areas for any exposure to danger and keep essential supplies like medication and food.”

Ghanaians in Qatar are advised to contact the Embassy immediately if they require assistance:

  • Emergency Hotline: +974 36 44 86 86 or +974 70 13 62 81
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Location: Zone 66, Street 576, Building 7, Al-Dafna, Doha

The statement was issued in response to the rapidly escalating Middle East conflict, which has seen reported US-Israeli strikes on Iran, Iranian retaliatory missile launches, and widespread airspace closures across the Gulf region. Qatar has been affected by the fallout, with air-defence systems activated and public safety measures intensified in Doha.

This advisory aligns with similar shelter-in-place warnings issued by other embassies and foreign ministries for their nationals in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia following the latest wave of military action.

The Ghanaian community in Qatar — many of whom work in construction, hospitality, healthcare, and other sectors — is urged to follow local authorities’ instructions, monitor official Ghana Embassy updates, and avoid non-essential movement until the security situation stabilizes.

The Embassy has assured citizens that it is closely monitoring developments and coordinating with Qatari authorities and other diplomatic missions to ensure the safety and welfare of Ghanaians in the country.

Further updates will be provided through official Embassy channels as the situation evolves. Ghanaians abroad are reminded to register with the nearest Ghanaian mission and keep emergency contacts readily available.
