Ghana Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Qatar, Urges Continued Peace Efforts

Ghana has strongly condemned Israel’s airstrikes on Qatar, labeling them an “unprovoked attack” that violates international law and threatens the sovereignty of the Gulf nation.

In a statement released on September 10, the government expressed deep concern over the strikes, which caused casualties, fatalities, and significant property damage in Doha.

The statement described the airstrikes as a “clear violation of international law” and a “flagrant affront” to Qatar’s sovereignty, warning that such actions jeopardize ongoing peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine. “This attack undermines the pursuit of peace between the States of Palestine and Israel,” the statement read.

President John Dramani Mahama extended solidarity to Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Qatari people, acknowledging their “tireless and impressive commitment” to mediating the Israel-Palestine conflict. Ghana urged Qatar to persist in its diplomatic efforts despite the attack.

The government called for restraint from all parties and emphasized that the incident should not derail Qatar’s role in seeking a peaceful resolution.

“We appeal that this condemnable incident does not hinder Qatar’s efforts in negotiating a diplomatic solution,” the statement concluded.
