Ghana Completes Evacuation of Nationals from Israel Amid Regional Conflict

The Government of Ghana has successfully concluded the evacuation of all citizens who requested assistance to leave Israel, bringing them safely back home, according to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
In a statement shared on social media, Mr. Ablakwa confirmed that the operation, coordinated through Ghana’s embassy in Tel Aviv and with support from regional partners, has been completed.
“Our evacuation operation in Israel has been a success. We have safely evacuated all Ghanaians who expressed the desire to be assisted by the Government of Ghana out of Israel back home,” he wrote.
The minister added that a small number of diplomatic staff remain in Israel to maintain essential consular services and provide ongoing support for any Ghanaians who may still require assistance.
The evacuees arrived in Accra and were received by government officials, marking the latest in a series of emergency responses by the Mahama administration to safeguard citizens amid escalating insecurity in the Middle East.
Mr. Ablakwa expressed gratitude to Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their cooperation, which enabled the safe cross-border movement and transit of the evacuees.
“We are grateful to the Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their cooperation, which made this complex operation possible. The Mahama Administration will continue to prioritise the safety and welfare of all Ghanaians wherever they may be,” he stated.
The government has pledged to closely monitor developments in the region and remain ready to respond to any further needs of Ghanaian nationals abroad.
The evacuation comes as the conflict involving Israel, the United States, and Iran continues to intensify, with repeated attacks on critical infrastructure and civilian areas across the Middle East raising serious safety concerns for foreign nationals in the affected countries.
