Ghana Black Stars Regroup in Morocco, Eye Crucial Win Against Niger in AFCON Qualifier
Black Stars Aim to Bounce Back from Disappointing Loss to Angola
The Ghana Black Stars have arrived in Morocco, determined to put their disappointing 1-0 loss to Angola behind them and secure a crucial win against Niger in their second 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Monday. The team hit the pitches at the Berkane Football Academy on Saturday, shortly after arriving in the country, and have been training intensively to prepare for the match.
With 22 players participating in the training session, the squad is looking strong despite the withdrawal of Istanbul Basaksehir defender Jerome Opoku due to injury and the absence of Los Angeles Galaxy winger Joseph Paintsil, who was left in Accra to resolve passport issues. Coach Otto Addo is confident that his team can deliver a stronger performance against Niger, and the players are focused on regrouping and making a comeback.
The Black Stars dominated much of the play against Angola, but conceded a late goal due to a defensive error, which handed Ghana a frustrating defeat. However, the team is looking to put that behind them and secure a crucial win against Niger. The match is scheduled to kick off at 4:00 PM local time on Monday, and the pressure is mounting for Ghana to keep their AFCON qualification hopes alive.
