Ghana Begins Emergency Evacuation of Citizens in Qatar Amid Rising Security Concerns

The Government of Ghana has begun arrangements to evacuate its citizens living in Qatar following heightened security concerns in parts of the Middle East.

In a notice dated March 15, 2026, the Embassy of Ghana in Qatar announced that the emergency evacuation exercise is being organised as a precautionary measure in response to the evolving security situation in the region.

The embassy explained that the decision follows an earlier communication issued on March 6, 2026, regarding the growing security concerns.

According to the notice, the evacuation will be conducted strictly as a one-way arrangement from Qatar to Ghana.

Ghanaians currently residing in Qatar who wish to return home under the emergency plan have been urged to reconfirm their interest by submitting the biodata pages of their passports via email.

Those interested in the evacuation are required to send the information to [email protected] no later than Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

The embassy stressed that the exercise is intended to ensure the safety of Ghanaian nationals should the security situation in the region deteriorate further.

The development comes amid growing concerns over security developments across parts of the Middle East, prompting several countries to review contingency plans for the safety of their citizens abroad.
