Ghana Armed Forces Selects First Batch of 2,000 Recruits for 2026 Training Exercise

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the selection of the first batch of 2,000 recruits to begin training, marking the start of this year’s multi-batch recruitment exercise.

The recruits, drawn from across the country, are expected to report to their respective regional selection centres on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to receive their appointment letters and prospectuses. The exercise is being conducted across all 16 regions, in line with efforts to make recruitment more accessible nationwide.

GAF also encouraged applicants who were previously deferred due to minor medical conditions to seek treatment, assuring them that they will be invited for a free medical review in the future.

Notably, the selected group includes 18 individuals who were injured during last year’s El-Wak Stadium stampede, as well as five candidates sponsored by families of victims who lost their lives in the incident.

The military expressed appreciation to regional administrations for their support, which contributed to the smooth organisation of the recruitment process at the regional level.

GAF further assured applicants who were not selected in the first batch to remain patient, noting that many qualified candidates who performed well in the aptitude tests will be considered in subsequent batches beyond this year.

In addition, the Armed Forces disclosed that a proposal is under review to include individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region—who assisted in rescue efforts during last year’s helicopter crash—in the second batch of recruits.
