Ghana Air Force Warrant Officer Arrested for Brutal Assault on Pharmacist and Female Customer at Burma Camp Pharmacy

Military police have arrested Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Mensah Williams of the Ghana Air Force following a viral CCTV video showing him brutally assaulting a pharmacist and a female customer at a pharmacy near Burma Camp in Accra.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, October 29, around 4:30 p.m., has sparked widespread outrage over military brutality against civilians.

The footage, first shared by GHOne TV, depicts Williams—described as a tall, dark-complexioned man in civilian clothes—storming into the pharmacy and confronting the attendant over an unspecified dispute.

He is seen slapping the pharmacist repeatedly before turning on the female customer, who attempted to film the altercation. Williams then grabs a metallic foldable ladder from the shop, threatening the attendant while demanding his money. Despite pleas from bystanders, the assault continued outside, leaving both victims shaken and injured.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) confirmed the arrest in a statement signed by Acting Director of Public Affairs Captain Veronica Arhin, noting that Williams, attached to the Office of the Chief of Staff, was detained Thursday morning by military police.

“The GAF condemns any form of misconduct by its personnel and has initiated an internal investigation,” the statement said, assuring the public of swift disciplinary action.

Eyewitnesses and sources say the attack stemmed from a billing disagreement, with Williams allegedly dissatisfied with a prescription or payment.

The pharmacist suffered facial injuries, while the woman sustained head blows; both are receiving treatment, with the female victim’s father—a Major General—reportedly prompting the rapid response.

The video, viewed over 500,000 times on X and TikTok, ignited fury, trending
