GFA Yet to Decide on André Ayew’s Black Stars Future Ahead of World Cup

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not taken a final decision on whether André Ayew will be included in the Black Stars squad, according to Communications Director Henry Asante Twum.
Speaking on the player’s future, Asante Twum indicated that no firm decision has been made regarding the 36-year-old’s place in the national team.
Ayew, who recently joined Dutch side NAC Breda after a six-month break from professional football, has drawn mixed reactions from fans and pundits. His return to club football following his departure from Le Havre has been modest, with the forward scoring just once in 10 appearances so far.
Despite this, calls for his return to the Black Stars have intensified, especially after Ghana’s disappointing exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where Ayew last featured for the national team.
When asked about the possibility of his inclusion, Asante Twum remained non-committal. “Nobody knows if André Ayew will go to the World Cup,” he said.
The statement leaves uncertainty over Ayew’s international future, as Ghana continues preparations toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with fans divided on whether the experienced forward still has a role to play in the team’s ambitions.
