GFA Strengthens Black Stars Technical Team with Five New Additions

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the appointment of five new members to the Black Stars technical team, including French coach Alain Ravera, Spanish analyst Jose Daniel Martínez Alfonso, Carlos Lozano Romero, and Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi, alongside head coach Kim Lars Björkegren.
Announcing the development on Friday, February 6, 2026, GFA Communications Director Asante Twum told Akoma FM that the additions reflect confidence in Björkegren’s proven track record and the value he continues to bring to Ghanaian football.
“With what Kim has achieved so far, he has justified his expertise, and we believe he has something extra to contribute to the team,” Twum said.
He explained that Björkegren’s immediate focus remains on the Black Queens, who are currently preparing for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
“Kim is in Ghana to continue with the Black Queens’ preparation for the Women’s AFCON. The mission is clear: to qualify for the World Cup. After the tournament in March, he will then join the Black Stars,” Twum added.
The Black Stars are scheduled to regroup in March 2026 for international friendly matches against Austria and Germany as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, drawn in Group L, will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and conclude the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The expanded technical team is expected to support Björkegren in refining tactics, improving analysis, and preparing the squad for a strong showing at the global showpiece.
