GFA Cracks Down on Betting Companies: ‘Hands Off Our Games!

Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has issued a stern warning to betting companies operating in Ghana, emphasizing that none have been authorized to offer odds on Ghana Premier League matches. Okraku vowed to take legal action against non-compliant companies, citing concerns about match-fixing that marred last season’s GPL.

Speaking at the 30th Ordinary Congress in Prampram, Okraku declared, “We won’t let betting companies feed on our football without permission.” The GFA is open to partnerships with betting companies that follow regulations but will fiercely protect the integrity of GPL matches.

This move reinforces Okraku’s administration’s zero-tolerance stance on match-fixing, demonstrated by the demotion of Inter Allies and indefinite suspension of AshantiGold for match manipulation. With the new GPL season kicking off on September 6, the GFA is drawing a clear line in the sand: betting companies must respect Ghanaian football’s integrity.
