GFA Communications Director Calls for Football Experts to Manage Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko
Henry Asante Twum Stresses Need for Managers with Strong Football IQ to Lead Ghana’s Iconic Clubs to Greater Success

The Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has strongly advocated for the appointment of experienced football experts to manage Ghana’s two biggest clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
In a recent interview with Gideon Okyere Anim (popularly known as Gattuso) on Original TV, Twum emphasised that both clubs require leaders with deep football knowledge and proven competence to navigate current challenges and drive long-term success.
“Both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are iconic clubs in Ghana and Africa,” Asante Twum said. “However, the challenges they face require a manager with a strong football IQ — someone who understands the intricacies of the game, has experience in high-pressure situations, and is capable of building competitive teams.”
He pointed out that while the two clubs boast massive fan bases and rich histories, their future growth and competitiveness — both domestically and on the continental stage — will largely depend on the quality of leadership at the technical helm.
Twum noted that appointing individuals with genuine football expertise, rather than non-professionals, is crucial for strategic planning, player development, tactical discipline, and overall club management.
The comments come at a time when both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko continue to face intense scrutiny over performance, administration, and results in the Ghana Premier League and other competitions.
Asante Twum’s remarks have sparked fresh discussions among fans and stakeholders about the kind of leadership needed to restore and sustain the glory of Ghana’s two most influential football institutions.
