The Ghana Education Service (GES) has arrested two people accused of allegedly demanding money from applicants in connection with the ongoing GES recruitment exercise.
The Service said four suspects have so far been identified in connection with the alleged recruitment fraud. Two have been arrested and arraigned before Accra Circuit Court 6, while the remaining two are currently at large.
According to the GES, the arrests were made in collaboration with security agencies as part of efforts to protect applicants and maintain the integrity of the recruitment process.
The Service stressed that recruitment into the GES is completely free and is carried out through established procedures.
Applicants have therefore been warned against paying individuals who claim they can secure recruitment, appointment letters or placement within the Ghana Education Service.
The GES said the arrests demonstrate its commitment to monitoring the recruitment exercise and preventing fraudsters from exploiting applicants.
Management also rejected suggestions that a scandal had hit the Service or the recruitment process, explaining that individuals allegedly involved in criminal activities had instead been identified and subjected to legal action.
The GES has assured the public that it will continue to take action against anyone who attempts to defraud applicants or misuse the name of the Service.
Members of the public have been encouraged to report suspected recruitment fraud and provide credible information to help security agencies identify and arrest those involved.
