Fuel Prices Set for First Increase of 2026

Fuel prices in Ghana are expected to rise in the next pricing window, ending January’s streak of consistent declines.

Industry projections from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) point to increases across petrol, diesel, and LPG, driven mainly by:

A weaker cedi (from GHS 10.90 to GHS 10.98 per US dollar, a 0.77% depreciation)

Higher international petroleum product prices

Projected adjustments (based on current window trends):

Petrol: ≈ 2.10% increase → around GHS 11.48 per litre

Diesel: ≈ 5.10% increase → around GHS 12.77 per litre (largest expected rise)

LPG: ≈ 1.09% increase → around GHS 13.50 per kilogram

These figures reflect international movements in the current window, where:

Petrol prices rose by 2.12%

Diesel by 6.73%

LPG by 3.66%

Crude oil also climbed significantly in early February, moving from $62.50 to $67.40 per barrel.

However, COMAC notes that intense competition among oil marketing companies and local market dynamics could lead some marketers to absorb part of the increases and maintain current pump prices.

If the full projected adjustments are passed on, this would mark the first fuel price hike of the year after several weeks of reductions in January. Final pump prices for the next window will be announced in the coming days.
