Fredima Fires Back at Ofori Amponsah’s Denial: ‘I Drove You to Daddy Lumba’s House 32 Years Ago’

Veteran music producer Fred Kyei Mensah, known as Fredima, has vehemently refuted highlife singer Ofori Amponsah’s claim that he did not introduce him to the late Daddy Lumba, insisting he personally drove the singer to the legend’s Dome residence in 1993 to present his demo.

In a detailed Facebook post on Tuesday, Fredima recounted accompanying Ofori with witnesses including his wife, Jose Addo, Eb De Noble Choice, Selina Orleans-Lindsay, Omama Agyei, and Nana Agyei Kodie. “I have not said anywhere that I was the first person who introduced him to Daddy Lumba but was the first to accompany him to present his demo,” he clarified, challenging Ofori to deny sitting in his car during the visit.

Fredima recalled an uncle’s 1993 prophecy: “Ofori will one day deny certain things about you meeting him.” He accused Ofori of ingratitude, noting Daddy Lumba once asked if Ofori had shown appreciation. “At least my demo fetched him a springboard… No malice. We move. Good beads don’t rattle,” he concluded.

Ofori, in an October Hitz FM interview with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, said he searched for producers independently, produced the demo, and visited Lumba alone, later introducing Fredima. “It wasn’t Fredima who introduced me… I went to Daddy Lumba’s house myself,” Ofori said.
