Former NSA Board Chairman Kwadwo Baah-Agyemang Urges GFA to Hire World-Class Coach for Black Stars

Former Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA) and ex-Member of Parliament for Akyem North, Kwadwo Baah-Agyemang, has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to appoint a world-class coach to lead the Black Stars following the dismissal of Otto Addo.
In an exclusive interview with Asempa FM, Baah-Agyemang described the decision to part ways with Addo as a necessary step, but stressed that the real challenge now lies in securing the right replacement.
“It is a good call to relieve Otto Addo of his duties, but my concern now is: who do we bring in as the next coach?” he said. “The GFA must focus on securing a world-class manager with experience at the highest level. This is the only way we can rebuild the Black Stars and give them a chance to compete on the global stage.”
Baah-Agyemang’s comments follow Ghana’s recent poor performances in international friendlies, including the heavy 5-1 defeat to Austria and the 2-1 loss to Germany, which have raised serious questions about the team’s readiness for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He emphasised that the Black Stars possess significant potential but require a coach capable of inspiring the players, implementing modern tactics, and maximising their abilities on the biggest stage.
“The Black Stars are a team with so much potential. But we need someone who can push them to their limits and bring out that potential,” he added.
The former sports administrator urged the GFA to act decisively and avoid settling for anything less than a proven, high-calibre coach who understands the demands of international football.
With less than three months until the 2026 World Cup, the pressure is mounting on the GFA to make a bold and strategic appointment that can restore confidence in the national team.
