FORMER NPP GENERAL SECREATARY EXPRESSES DISPLEASURE IN MONECRACY ACT.

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong has expressed shock at the growing moneycracy in the body-politics of the party.

The former press secretary to former President John Agyekum Kuffour in an interview said the high levels of moenycracy is preventing Ghanaians from choosing the right person for the job.

Some delegates of the NPP expressed their displeasure at the GHC 300 and GHC 400 which were given them by Kennedy Agyapong and Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia respectively during the delegates conference of the NPP. The delegates had hoped that they would be given more money.

This attitude, Kwabena Agyapong insist is very shocking arguing that the forebears of the NPP always sacrificed their interest for that of the party.

“It wasn’t so at the beginning of the party’s politics…we were only giving delegates lorry fares and they appreciated it because they knew they were dedicating themselves to the work of the party…,” he mentioned.

He further argued that it would be prudent for the expanson of the number of people who can partake in the election of a flagbearer as part of the means to ending moenycracy in the NPP politics.

“I agree to the proposal for the expansion of the delegates list, at least all card bearing members who pay dues for the constituencies should be allowed to cast ballots because all politics is local…,” he added.
