Five People Die, Four Injured in Asikuma Junction Accident

Five people have died and four others are injured after a terrible road accident at Asikuma Junction in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the crash happened between a grey Toyota Noah (registration number GX 422-25) and a tipper truck (registration number GT 725-19).

A rescue team, led by AstnO Fred Aganu and Acting District Fire Officer ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, was quickly sent to the scene after a distress call was made to the Peki Fire Station.

The team managed to rescue four people, including a child. They were rushed to the Peki Government Hospital by the National Ambulance Service for treatment.

Sadly, five others were found unresponsive and were handed over to the police.

The GNFS has urged drivers to be careful on the roads, especially during long trips and bad weather, to help prevent such accidents.
