Fire Engulfs Accra Tourist Information Centre in Early Morning Blaze

A fire broke out at the Accra Tourist Information Centre in the early hours of Monday, August 4, 2025, around 1:00 a.m.

Initial reports suggest the blaze originated in the kitchen area of Rockz Waakye, a popular food vendor operating within the premises. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly, deploying five fire tenders to contain and extinguish the flames.

No injuries or casualties have been reported, and authorities are working to determine the full extent of the damage.

In a related incident, a separate fire erupted on Sunday, August 3, near the Madina Redco Flats, destroying multiple makeshift wooden and metal structures.

The GNFS received an emergency call at 12:36 p.m., with the first fire appliance from the Madina Fire Station arriving at 12:40 p.m.

Additional support from Legon, Abelempke, and GNFS Headquarters brought the total number of fire engines to five. The cause of this fire is also under investigation.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report fire hazards immediately to emergency services
