The Ministry of Finance says all 6,300 Ghana Education Service (GES) staff recruited in 2024 without financial clearance have now received their salaries and outstanding arrears.
The clarification follows an appeal by the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Staff of the GES over salary arrears owed to some newly recruited personnel.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the Ministry said the government inherited the situation in 2025 and subsequently took steps to resolve the payment challenges.
Payment Approved in Four Tranches
According to the Ministry, Cabinet approval was secured, after which the necessary financial clearance was issued to facilitate the payment of the affected staff in four tranches.
It said all 6,300 staff covered under the arrangement have now been paid.
The Ministry of Finance further clarified that there are currently no outstanding requests for financial clearance from the Ghana Education Service awaiting action by the Ministry.
Staff Directed to GES Over Unresolved Issues
The Ministry advised any staff member who continues to experience difficulties with salary payments or arrears to contact the Ghana Education Service for assistance.
It explained that unresolved cases may relate to individual payroll or administrative matters requiring attention from the GES.
The Ministry said the clarification was issued to address concerns raised by affected teachers and staff regarding outstanding salary payments.
The latest development is expected to bring relief to the 6,300 personnel affected by the financial clearance issue, while individual cases that remain unresolved are to be handled through the Ghana Education Service.
