Final-Year Student Dies After Swarm of Bees Attack Her on Campus at Effutu A.M.E Zion Girls SHS

A final-year student of Effutu A.M.E Zion Girls Senior High School, Emmanuella Quainoo, has tragically died after she was attacked by a swarm of bees on the school premises.

The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on the school campus. Emmanuella was stung multiple times by the bees and was immediately rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.

She was pronounced dead in the early hours of the following morning while receiving medical care.

Eyewitnesses told Adom News that students were seen running for safety during the bee attack. Moments later, Emmanuella was found lying unconscious on the ground.

According to the witnesses, efforts to get immediate emergency assistance were delayed after the Winneba Fire Service reportedly could not respond because its fire tender had broken down. Personnel from the Apam Fire Service were eventually contacted but arrived after the situation had already worsened.

Family members of the deceased are devastated by the tragic loss. Her grandmother, Vida Ayi Mensah, revealed that Emmanuella had returned to school to rewrite her WASSCE after failing her science paper the previous year.

The school authorities and the Ghana Education Service are yet to issue an official statement on the incident. The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

This unfortunate incident has sent shockwaves through the Effutu Municipality and the broader educational community, with many calling for improved safety measures on school campuses, especially regarding potential environmental hazards.

Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
