Family Sues Widow of Late Samuel Aboagye Over Refusal to DNA-Test Child’s Paternity

The family of the late Samuel Aboagye has taken his widow, Abigail Aboagye, to court in a bitter dispute over her refusal to undergo a DNA test to confirm the paternity of their young child.
The lawsuit, filed in a local court, accuses Abigail of blocking efforts to verify if the child—born shortly before Samuel’s untimely death—is biologically his. Relatives claim the test is essential to settle inheritance questions and protect family assets, but Abigail has dug in her heels, calling the demand an insult to her late husband’s memory and their marriage.
Samuel, a prominent figure in his community (though details of his profession remain private), passed away under tragic circumstances last year, leaving behind the couple’s toddler. Photos circulating online show the family in happier times, with Samuel cradling the child alongside a beaming Abigail.
Legal experts say such cases are on the rise in Ghana, often fueled by grief, mistrust, and the high stakes of estate disputes. The court has yet to rule, but the hearing promises to air out raw family secrets in a public forum.
As the case unfolds, supporters of Abigail have rallied online, decrying it as a “witch hunt,” while the Aboagye clan insists they’re only seeking the truth for the child’s sake.
