New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary hopeful Eugene Boakye Antwi says his political experience and maturity make him the right candidate to lead the party’s administration as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the NPP needs experienced leadership capable of rebuilding trust, restoring unity and bringing members together following the challenges the party faced while in government.
The NPP is scheduled to hold its national executives election on October 3, 2026, with the vetting of aspirants currently underway.
The election will determine the party’s next national executives, including the National Chairman, General Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Organiser and Communications Director.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Afternoon Ghana on Tuesday, September 1, Eugene Boakye Antwi highlighted his political experience as one of the key reasons he believes he is suited for the position of General Secretary.
He stressed that the party’s ability to regain power in 2028 would depend largely on its capacity to resolve internal disagreements and present a united front to voters.
“Anytime we’re united, we’re unstoppable and anytime we’re divided, we’re defeated,” he said.
The General Secretary hopeful urged party members to put past disagreements and challenges experienced during the NPP’s administration behind them and focus on rebuilding the party.
He said the party must prioritise reconciliation and unity while creating an environment where members can work together towards a common objective.
According to Eugene Boakye Antwi, a united NPP would be better positioned to reconnect with the Ghanaian electorate and regain the confidence of voters ahead of the 2028 elections.
He maintained that the immediate priority should be to bring the party’s members together, strengthen its internal structures and create the conditions necessary for a successful return to power.
The NPP’s national executives election on October 3 is therefore expected to play a crucial role in determining the leadership team that will steer the party’s affairs as it prepares for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
