Electoral Violence Rocks Weija-Gbawe Constituency

The Weija-Gbawe constituency has been thrown into tension following a series of alleged attacks on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a press briefing organized by the NPP, the Member of Parliament-elect for the constituency, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shiabu, expressed concerns over the escalating violence.

He accused the NDC parliamentary candidate, who lost in the recent elections, of inciting unrest by falsely claiming to have won the seat and parading himself as the legitimate Member of Parliament-elect.
According to Lawyer Shiabu, this misinformation has emboldened NDC supporters, leading to acts of intimidation and attacks on NPP members in the area.

He called on former President John Dramani Mahama, as the leader of the NDC, to intervene and urge his supporters to respect the democratic process and maintain peace. Additionally, he appealed to traditional authorities in the constituency to play a mediating role in calming tensions.

The NPP also reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of its members and urged security agencies to take swift action to prevent further violence.
