ECG to Deploy Franchise Officers Nationwide from February 2026

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced the deployment of franchise officers across all its district operational areas starting in February 2026.
In a public notice issued on Friday, January 30, 2026, ECG explained that the initiative aims to bring services directly to customers, improve billing efficiency, strengthen monitoring, and enhance revenue collection nationwide.
Key responsibilities of the franchise officers include:
Reading postpaid meters
Checking the integrity of prepaid meters
Distributing postpaid bills to customers
Printing bills on the spot for postpaid customers using handheld devices
Assisting customers to pay bills via the ECG Power App or by dialing short code 226 (no cash payments will be accepted during these interactions)
Disconnecting customers with arrears
Reporting illegal electricity usage or tampering to the appropriate authorities
To protect customers from impersonation, ECG advised the public to always verify the identity of franchise officers. All officers will carry valid identification cards and signed authorization letters with contact numbers of their respective district offices.
“This franchise initiative is to ensure that ECG services are brought to the doorsteps of our cherished customers,” the statement said.
Customers seeking further information are encouraged to contact the ECG call centre on 0302611611 or reach out through the company’s official social media platforms.
The move forms part of ECG’s broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, and reduce revenue leakages across the country. Deployment begins in February 2026.
