ECG Announces Major Power Outages Across Greater Accra, Tema, Accra East & West Regions from March 1–5, 2026

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has released a detailed schedule of planned and emergency maintenance works that will cause widespread power interruptions in parts of the Greater Accra Region, Tema, Accra East, and Accra West from Sunday, March 1 through Thursday, March 5, 2026.

In a statement issued by ECG’s Communications Department on Friday, the utility explained that the outages are necessary to improve service reliability, fix critical network faults, upgrade infrastructure, and strengthen overall electricity delivery.

“These essential works will unfortunately result in temporary power interruptions in several communities,” the statement noted. “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and urge customers to plan accordingly.”

Sunday, March 1, 2026

Greater Accra Region: Trassaco Valley Enclave and surrounding areas – 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tema (Industrial & Commercial): Western Road corridor including Early Power, Apollo Steel, Crown Can, De-Simone, Tropical Cable, Multi Pac, Jon Moore, Cal Bank, La Bianca – 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Accra West (Emergency): La Darkuman, Kokompe, and neighbouring communities – time to be confirmed (urgent fault rectification).

Monday, March 2, 2026

Accra West: Alogboshie, Achimota Neoplan, Benjilo, Akweteman, and surrounding areas – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday, March 3, 2026

Accra East: Santana Market, Zion Police Station, Teshie Camp 2, ICGC, parts of Labone, Dome Pillar 2, Dome K Boat, No Visa, Auntie Mary, and surrounding communities – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tema: Spintex Kotobabi, Inkoom Hospital, Community 11 (Monte Carlo, Shell Filling Station, Gyan Towers), CAC in Community 5 and 3 – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Accra West: Red Top, Old Barrier, New Aplaku, Kings University, and surrounding areas – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

ECG’s Message to Customers

ECG advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to make alternative arrangements for power-sensitive activities, store perishable items appropriately, and switch off appliances to avoid damage from sudden power restoration.

The utility thanked customers for their understanding and cooperation while essential upgrades are carried out to improve long-term service reliability.

Customers needing urgent updates or reporting outages during the period can contact ECG via their toll-free lines, social media channels, or the nearest district office.

The planned maintenance forms part of ECG’s ongoing network reinforcement and preventive maintenance programme aimed at reducing system losses, improving voltage stability, and enhancing overall power supply quality across the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area and its environs.
