EC Declares Readiness for NPP Presidential Primary on January 31

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced its full readiness for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Primary scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The Commission has assured political stakeholders and the general public that all logistical and administrative preparations are on track to ensure a smooth, transparent and credible electoral process.
Speaking to Citi News, the Deputy Director of Research at the EC, Fred Tetteh, disclosed that the distribution of election materials to various voting centres nationwide will commence on Tuesday, January 27.
He explained that critical preparatory activities, including the printing of ballot papers, have already been completed under strict supervision and in the presence of representatives of the presidential aspirants.
“Preparations are far ahead. The printing of ballot papers, done in the presence of the aspirants’ representatives, has been completed,” Mr Tetteh said.
He added that the Commission has taken full custody of the ballot papers from the printing house and has also received the voter album for accredited delegates.
“By Tuesday at the latest, all materials will be dispatched to the 16 regional capitals for onward transmission to the constituency centres,” he noted.
The EC’s assurance comes ahead of the internal party election, which is expected to determine the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
