DVLA Opens New Office in Bechem to Improve Local Services

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has officially opened a new office in Bechem, Bono Region, making it easier for locals to access vehicle registration and licensing services.

The event took place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, and this is the fifth new DVLA office launched in the last eight months. The DVLA now operates 40 branches across Ghana.

At the ceremony, DVLA Chief Executive Julius Neequaye Kotey called the office a sign of their focus on making services more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly. He linked it to President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda, which prioritizes service-oriented leadership.

“This isn’t just a building—it’s our promise to deliver better public services,” Kotey said.

He explained that the office will provide full DVLA services, such as registering vehicles, issuing and renewing licenses, upgrading licenses, and converting foreign ones. He also mentioned plans for new number plates starting in January 2026 to boost security and modernize operations.

DVLA Governing Board Chairman George Spencer Quaye highlighted the push for decentralization and new ideas. He said the office will save residents from long trips to other locations for services.

“Our goal is to cut out middlemen, fight corruption, and give people fair, professional, and quick help,” Quaye said. He encouraged the Bechem staff to work with honesty and make the office a top example.

Tano South Municipal Chief Executive Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong called the office a major boost for Bechem and nearby areas. It will simplify getting licenses and help improve road safety by reducing unlicensed vehicles.

“This facility represents better access, responsibility, and growth,” he said, asking staff to be polite and professional with the public.

Bechem Queen Mother Nana Adwoapo Dwamena Serwaa II praised it as a key achievement for the Ahafo Region. She pointed out benefits like lower travel costs, new jobs, and drawing more investment.

“This is a chance to bring even more services and infrastructure to help our community,” she added. She urged locals to follow road rules, keep vehicles safe, and renew licenses on time.

The new office features modern equipment and digital tools for faster service, plus community programs to connect better with people.

Thanks went to partners like the Ministry of Transport, Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, and Bechem Traditional Council for their support.

As the office opened, DVLA renewed its commitment to innovation, openness, and safer roads to protect lives and aid Ghana’s progress.
