Dr Bawumia Calls for Unity, Reflection and Hard Work at NPP National Thanksgiving Service

Newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer and former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged party members to use the ongoing national thanksgiving services as a time for prayer, reflection and renewed commitment to serving Ghana.
Speaking at the National Mosque in Accra on Friday, February 13, 2026, Dr Bawumia described the service as more than a celebration of his successful election as flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
“We are grateful to God for His guidance and mercies throughout our recent internal processes. Our national conference was a success and our flag-bearership election was incident-free. Without God’s arms wrapped around us, we would not have been successful. Praise be to His name,” he said.
He stressed that the thanksgiving was not about personal ambition or individual glory, but a moment for collective reflection and recommitment.
“Today’s thanksgiving service is not a celebration of personal ambition. It is, for me, a moment to join you all in reflection, prayer, and recommitment to a higher cause — the cause of contributing to the building of a nation that is truly great and strong,” Dr Bawumia declared.
The flagbearer called on NPP members to set aside differences and unite around shared values and national goals.
“Let us deepen our concentration on what we have in common and put less emphasis on what we differ on,” he said, adding that unity would be essential as the party prepares for the 2028 elections.
Looking ahead, Dr Bawumia reminded supporters that victory would demand discipline, sacrifice and consistent effort.
“Victory in 2028 will not be gifted to us. It must be earned, constituency by constituency, household by household,” he stated.
The national thanksgiving services, being held across the country, follow the NPP’s peaceful flagbearer primary on January 31, 2026, where Dr Bawumia secured 56.48% of the vote to become the party’s candidate for the next presidential election.
