Daddy Lumba’s Manager Calls for National Museum to Honor Highlife Legend

Roman Fada, the longtime manager of the late Ghanaian highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known as Daddy Lumba, has called on the government and stakeholders to establish a national museum to honor the musician and other highlife legends.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show on July 28, 2025, Fada emphasized the need to commemorate Lumba’s legacy following his passing on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Accra after a brief illness.

“We need to do something in remembrance of him,” Fada stated. “A national museum to celebrate Daddy Lumba and other highlife legends would not only honor his legacy but also benefit the country.

He was an international commodity.” He highlighted the public’s admiration for Lumba, noting that fans had long advocated for monuments or statues in his name during his lifetime.

Fada proposed that the museum would serve as a cultural and educational hub, preserving Ghana’s rich musical heritage for future generations.

Lumba, celebrated for hits like Aben Wo Ha and Theresa across his 33-album career, was mourned nationwide, with tributes from figures like former President Nana Akufo-Addo and a candlelight vigil planned for August 2, 2025, at Independence Square.

The call for a museum aligns with sentiments on X, where users like @GHreels urged for tangible recognition of Lumba’s global impact. The Fosu family, through their lawyer Fati Ali Yallah, has welcomed such initiatives but requested privacy as they plan funeral arrangements.
