Daddy Lumba’s Family Seeks Privacy Amid Grief, Confirms Death – Lawyer

The Fosu family, through their legal counsel Fati Ali Yallah, Esq., has confirmed the passing of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known as Daddy Lumba, on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Accra, aged 59, following a brief illness.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom, Ms. Yallah expressed the family’s profound shock and pain, stating, “The family is in a state of shock, state of pain. They cannot even talk. We are all shocked, including me, his lawyer.”
The announcement was made to counter rampant social media speculation and misinformation, with the family mandated to officially confirm the news.
Ms. Yallah emphasized the family’s request for privacy, noting that details such as the cause of death and funeral arrangements remain confidential until further notice.
“The family has instructed that all other information be made confidential,” she said, promising a comprehensive statement at the appropriate time.
This approach reflects the challenge of managing public discourse while grieving privately, especially for a figure of Daddy Lumba’s stature.
Born on September 29, 1964, in Nsuta Amangoase, Daddy Lumba’s career spanned over three decades, with over 30 albums including hits like Aben Wo Ha, Sika Asem, and Theresa.
His unique blend of highlife and contemporary sounds earned him global acclaim and a devoted fanbase.
As Ghana mourns, with tributes from figures like Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and crowds gathering at his East Legon residence, the family’s plea underscores their need for space during this immense loss. Further details will be shared when the family is ready.
