Court Slaps Lady With GHS 1,500 Fine For Taking GHS 30 Transport Fare From Guy And Not Showing Up

A Magistrate Court in Ilesa, Osun State, Nigeria, has made a significant ruling in a case involving a breach of agreement and emotional distress.

Olapitan Sola, the plaintiff, was awarded N150,000 (approximately GHS 1,500) by the court, which ordered his girlfriend, Rhoda Adu, to pay the amount for failing to fulfill her promise to visit him.

The issue started when Sola sent Adu N3,000 (around GHS 30) as transport fare, but she didn’t show up and instead switched off her phone, leaving Sola feeling deceived and defrauded.

The court’s decision was based on evidence presented by Sola, including mobile money transfer records and WhatsApp conversations, which proved that Adu had indeed breached their agreement and emotionally manipulated him.

As a result, Adu was ordered to refund the N3,000, pay a penalty of N100,000 for breaching the agreement, and an additional N50,000 as damages for the emotional distress she caused Sola.

This ruling has sparked a heated debate about the consequences of standing up a partner and the importance of honesty and communication in relationships.
