Companies Donate Millions to Support Black Stars Ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup

Several corporate organisations have contributed millions of Ghana cedis to support the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Leading the latest round of donations was Ghana Gas Limited, which redeemed a pledge of GH¢5 million to support the national team’s preparations for the tournament.
Other major contributors included Ecobank Ghana Limited with GH¢3 million, Zijin Golden Ridge Limited with GH¢1.13 million, and Absa Bank Ghana with GH¢1 million.
OmniBSIC Bank also made a symbolic donation of GH¢250,000.
The donations were officially received at the Ministry of Finance in Accra by Deputy Finance Minister and Chairman of the Black Stars World Cup Fundraising Committee, Thomas Nyarko Ampem.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Mr Ampem expressed gratitude to the companies for supporting the national team and helping Ghana prepare for the global tournament.
He also encouraged other organisations and individuals who had pledged support to redeem their promises before the end of the month.
According to him, the fundraising campaign remains open to additional contributions as preparations intensify for the competition.
The fundraising initiative was launched in March by President John Dramani Mahama with a target of raising $30 million from corporate institutions and the general public to support Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Ministry of Finance says donations and pledges from companies and individuals will continue to be received every Thursday as the tournament approaches.
