Coach Bernard Asare: “Lack of Funds and Inadequate Infrastructure Hampering Asamankese Young Kotoko’s Dreams”

In an exclusive interview with 7DS Sports' host Kofi Champion, Coach Bernard of Asamankese Young Kotoko revealed the reasons behind his team's decision to abandon their quest to join the Division 2 league.

In an exclusive interview with 7DS SPORTS, Coach Bernard of Asamankese Young Kotoko has revealed the struggles his team is facing in its pursuit of promotion to the Division 2 league. The coach, speaking to 7DS TV sports host, Kofi Champion, lamented the lack of support from the community and authorities, which has led to the team’s inability to continue playing in the Division 2 league.

According to Coach Bernard, he has approached both the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government and the current MCE under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for assistance, but received no positive responses. He also wrote a letter to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), hoping to get some support, but was met with silence.

The coach attributed the team’s struggles to a lack of funds, which he has been unable to secure from potential sponsors. He also pointed out that Asamankese has no public football pitch, making it difficult for the team to train and play matches.

“We have talented young players in Asamankese, but due to the lack of facilities and support, they have no future in football,” Coach Bernard said. “I have been pleading with the community and authorities to help us, but it seems like we are being ignored.”

However, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Just recently, Hon. Charles Kwame Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Asamankese Municipality, promised to build an astro-turf football pitch for the team. Coach Bernard is hopeful that this project will come to fruition and provide a much-needed boost to the team.

The coach is now pleading with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to come to their aid. “We are not asking for much, just a little support to help us take our team to the next level,” he said. “We are willing to work hard and make our community proud, but we need some help.”

Asamankese Young Kotoko fans are eagerly awaiting news on the proposed astro-turf pitch and hoping that it will be a turning point for their beloved team.

The 7DS Sports editorial team recommends that:  The Ghana Football Association (GFA) sends a delegation to Asamankese to assess the situation and provide support.
