Charles Asmah Declares Bid for First Vice Chairman of NPP-UK Chapter, Highlights Long Service and Vision for Stronger Party Structure

Lawyer Charles Asmah has officially announced his intention to contest for the position of First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s UK chapter (NPP-UK), calling on members across all branches to rally behind his candidacy based on his record of dedicated service, loyalty, and proven leadership since joining the party in 2012.

In a formal declaration shared with party faithful, executives, and branch officers, Mr. Asmah positioned himself as a servant-leader with deep institutional memory and unwavering commitment to the NPP’s cause.

“Mr Chairman, executives, branch executives, and fellow patriots, I stand before you. My name is Charles Asmah. I have served you as your servant since 2012,” he stated.

Asmah recounted his journey through challenging periods of the party’s history, particularly the aftermath of the 2012 electoral defeat:

“When we lost the election in 2012, we had to come together through demonstrations, mobilisation, collective responsibility, and strategic direction to fight and recapture power in 2016.”

He highlighted his willingness to step up during difficult transitions:

“In 2017, my substantive Treasurer had to go back to Ghana. I had to choose between myself and you, and I chose you. I stayed behind and served as Acting Treasurer.”

His performance earned him appointment as substantive Treasurer in 2018, a role he held with diligence, transparency, and accountability. In 2022, party members renewed their confidence by re-electing him to the position.

“Because of dedication, hard work, and tenacity, I was given another mandate in 2022,” he said.

Working alongside the Financial Secretary, Prince, and other executives, Asmah emphasised that financial discipline, trust, and integrity have been the hallmark of their stewardship:

“We have worked hard to ensure that you can trust us with your money. Accountability, responsibility, and integrity have been our hallmark.”

Vision for First Vice Chairman

Outlining his vision, Asmah pledged to focus on:

  • Deepening policy engagement within NPP-UK to better articulate and advance the party’s agenda in the diaspora
  • Intensifying revenue mobilisation to strengthen the chapter’s financial base and operational capacity
  • Building a stronger, more united front across branches and among members

“Together with the executives, we will work harder on the policy front, enhance revenue mobilisation, and build a stronger, more united front,” he assured.

Mr. Asmah appealed directly to the NPP-UK membership for support, framing his bid as a continuation of selfless service rather than personal ambition. He urged unity and collective responsibility as the chapter prepares for future electoral cycles and diaspora mobilisation efforts.

The declaration has already generated significant discussion within NPP-UK circles, with many members praising Asmah’s long service, financial stewardship, and institutional loyalty. The NPP-UK chapter is expected to hold its internal elections in the coming months, with several positions — including First Vice Chairman — set to be contested.

Charles Asmah’s candidacy is widely seen as a strong contender, built on a foundation of proven dedication, transparency, and a clear vision for a more robust and policy-focused chapter in the UK.

Further updates on the NPP-UK election process and other declared candidates will be shared as the timeline progresses.
