A devastating road accident in Adanwomase, situated within the Kwabre East Municipality of Ghana’s Ashanti Region, claimed five lives on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
The incident occurred when a bullion van, accompanied by police escorts, attempted to overtake another vehicle while climbing a steep hill. In the process, the van collided head-on with an oncoming Kia truck, resulting in a fatal crash.
Among the deceased were two police officers assigned to protect the cash-in-transit van, along with three other individuals whose identities have not yet been confirmed.
Eyewitness Bright Ntem recounted the scene as harrowing, noting the force of the collision and the quick response from emergency personnel. Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to determine the precise cause of the crash and to explore potential lapses in safety protocols.
