Black Stars Technical Team Escapes Near-Fatal Accident
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that head coach Otto Addo, assistant coach John Paintsil, and goalkeepers’ trainer Fatawu Dauda were involved in a road accident while returning from an official assignment in Tarkwa. The technical team had been observing the Champion of Champions clash between FC Samartex 1996 and Nsoatreman FC.
The accident occurred when their vehicle, a Land Cruiser, narrowly avoided a head-on collision with a pickup truck that veered into its lane. The swift action by the driver prevented a potentially devastating accident, although the vehicle sustained some damage.
All three members of the technical team are currently in stable condition and will undergo further medical evaluations upon their return to Accra. The GFA expressed confidence that the technical team will be in good health and ready to lead the Black Stars in their upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
