Black Stars Kick Off AFCON Qualifier Preparations with Key Training Session
The Black Stars started their preparations for the final round of qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday evening. The team focuses on securing crucial points in the final phase of Group F, starting with their upcoming match against Angola.
Monday’s session saw eight players take to the field, including deputy captain Mohammed Kudus, who continues to be one of the team’s standout performers. His presence is vital as Ghana gears up for the high-stakes qualifiers. Joining Kudus were a mix of both international and local players, including Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu, Osman Bukari, and goalkeeper Joseph Wollacott, as well as three Ghana Premier League talents—Emmanuel Antwi, Razak Simpson, and Isaac Afful.
The session demonstrated a blend of experience and emerging talent, as the Black Stars aim to build a well-rounded squad for the challenges ahead. More players are expected to join the camp by Monday night and Tuesday morning, ensuring that Coach Otto Addo and his technical team will have a full squad for their upcoming training sessions.
Coach Addo will lead another session on Tuesday, before the team departs for Luanda on Wednesday for their crucial match against Angola on Friday, November 15. The game will play a pivotal role in Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Following the Angola clash, the Black Stars will return home to face Niger in their final Group F qualifier on Monday, November 18, in what promises to be an intense final push for AFCON qualification.
