Black Queens Return to Accra After MS&AD Cup 2024 Friendly Against Japan

Ghana’s Black Queens have arrived back in Accra following their international friendly, dubbed the MS&AD Cup 2024, played against Japan. Players and technical team members, led by Nora Häuptle and Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials, arrived Monday afternoon.

The team departed their base in Kanazawa, Japan, for Narita International Airport on Sunday. Key players Grace Asantewaa, Linda Eshun, and Princess Marfo had already left for Mexico, Iceland, and Honolulu, USA respectively, to rejoin their parent clubs.

The Black Queens are in a rebuilding process after missing out on several continental outings and have qualified for the next edition of the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON), slated for July 2025. The friendly with Japan was a valuable test for the team, providing the technical staff with insights into the team’s current level and areas that need further strengthening.

The GFA remains committed to investing in building the depth and quality of the team ahead of future assignments, in line with the Association’s Women’s Football Strategy.
