Black Queens Coach Confident Ahead of Friendly Against England

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren is confident his team can compete with England’s Lionesses in an upcoming friendly.

Ghana will face the European champions at St. Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday, December 3, 2025, at 19:00 GMT.

In an interview with the Ghana FA website, Björkegren said:

“We’re jumping into deep water to see if we can swim against the best team in the world. It’s going to be really tough, but we have some qualities.”

He added:

“We may not be top five yet, but we need to challenge ourselves. Away against England will be hard, but we are ready.”

The match is a big test for Ghana’s progress. It will help the team improve in FIFA rankings and stay among Africa’s best.

The Black Queens are in Southampton for final training. They recently beat Aston Villa Women’s team.

This friendly is part of prep for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
