Bishop Salifu Amoako and Wife Fined GH₵6K Over Son’s Fatal East Legon Crash

Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, Founder and General Overseer of Alive Chapel International, and his wife have been fined GH₵6,000 each for negligence in connection to the fatal East Legon crash involving their unlicensed 16-year-old son.

The tragic incident occurred on October 12, 2024, when the teenager, driving his mother’s Jaguar F-Pace at high speed, collided with an Acura. The crash claimed the lives of two 12-year-old girls, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh Boateng. Both vehicles caught fire, devastating the local community.

The court found the Amoakos responsible for failing to supervise their son, who was driving without a valid license. The teenager has been sentenced to six months at the Senior Correctional Centre for his reckless driving.

In addition to the negligence fine, Bishop Salifu Amoako was ordered to pay over GH₵8,000 for damages to an electricity pole destroyed in the crash.

The ruling has sparked outrage on social media, with many Ghanaians criticizing the penalties as insufficient for the gravity of the tragedy. Calls for stricter enforcement of driving laws and parental accountability have grown louder in the aftermath of the case.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the importance of responsible parenting and adherence to road safety laws. The community continues to grieve the loss of two young lives and demands stronger measures to prevent similar tragedies.
