Benjamin Asare Shines as Otto Addo Hands Four Players Maiden Black Stars Call-Ups

In-form goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has earned recognition for his outstanding performances with Accra Hearts of Oak, securing his place as one of the standout players in the Ghana Premier League.
Asare’s consistency between the posts has not only strengthened Hearts of Oak but also earned him a place in the national team, despite strong competition from Europe-based players. His inclusion is widely seen as a reward for his hard work and impressive form in the domestic league.
Meanwhile, head coach Otto Addo has named four new players in his squad, handing them their first call-ups to the Black Stars.
Among them is Derrick Luckassen, a central defender currently playing for Pafos FC in Cyprus. Luckassen brings valuable experience, having featured for top European clubs such as PSV Eindhoven, Anderlecht, and Hertha BSC. He was also part of the Pafos side that won the 2024/25 Cypriot League and scored the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League goal.
Patrick Pfeiffer, another defensive option, also earns a call-up. The Bundesliga defender is known for his physical presence and composure at the back, qualities expected to strengthen Ghana’s defence.
Marvin Senaya, who plays in the French Ligue 1 for AJ Auxerre, adds versatility to the squad. His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively makes him a valuable option for the team.
Completing the list is Daniel Agyei, a forward currently with Turkish side Kocaelispor. Known for his pace and attacking creativity, Agyei has previously played in England for clubs including Burnley and Oxford United, bringing useful experience to Ghana’s attack.
The upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany will serve as important tests for Otto Addo and his squad as they prepare for future competitions. The matches are expected to give the newly invited players an opportunity to prove themselves on the international stage.
