Barcelona Edge Past Albacete to Reach Copa del Rey Semi-Finals

Barcelona booked their place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals with a hard-fought victory over Albacete, thanks to a decisive second-half performance.

Two minutes into the second half, Dani Olmo’s powerful effort from inside the area was brilliantly cleared off the line by Dani Bernabeu following a stunning solo run from Marcus Rashford.

The England international, currently on loan from Manchester United, didn’t have to wait long to make his mark.

Rashford delivered a pinpoint corner that Ronald Araujo powered home with a header, giving Barcelona the lead. With the assist, Rashford became only the third La Liga player this season to reach double figures for goals and assists combined across all competitions.

Albacete fought back late when defender Moreno connected with a cross from Jose Carlos Lazo to pull one back and set up a tense finish.

In added time, Ferran Torres thought he had sealed the win with a goal, but it was ruled out for offside.

Barcelona held on to secure their place in the last four, with Rashford’s creativity and Araujo’s header proving the difference in a match that showcased both quality and resilience.

The win keeps Barcelona’s hopes alive of silverware this season as they continue their run in the Copa del Rey.
