Assin South NPP Coordinators Overwhelmingly Back Dr Bawumia for 2028 Flagbearer Race

In a strong show of grassroots support, 22 out of 25 electoral area coordinators in Assin South have publicly declared their unwavering backing for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to be retained as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.

Addressing the media in Assin South, the coordinators’ spokesperson, flanked by the 22 members, praised Dr Bawumia as a visionary leader whose policies and initiatives continue to benefit Ghanaians even under the current NDC administration.

“We have seen the goodness in Dr Bawumia. He has demonstrated beyond doubt that he has the vision and capacity to transform this country if given the mandate as President,” the group stated.

They highlighted several legacy projects initiated during Dr Bawumia’s tenure as Vice President, including the digitalisation drive, which they say remain pivotal to Ghana’s development.

“We are 25 coordinators in total. One has sadly passed away, and only two are not with us today. The remaining 22 stand solidly behind Dr Bawumia to lead the NPP to victory in 2028,” they affirmed.

The coordinators urged the national leadership of the NPP to rally behind Dr Bawumia, describing him as the party’s best bet to reclaim power and continue the transformation agenda started under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.

The endorsement from Assin South — a traditionally competitive constituency — is seen as a significant boost to Dr Bawumia’s growing momentum within the party as the race for the 2028 flagbearership quietly begins.
