In a tragic incident in the Asante Akyem Nnadieso area of the Asante South Municipality in the Ashanti Region, the body of a seven-month-old fetus was discovered in a public latrine. The discovery was made on Friday, July 12, during a funeral gathering in the town.
Witnesses believe that the fetus, which was two months away from full term, was aborted before being dumped in the toilet.
The Chief and Elders of Nnadieso, when contacted, expressed their lack of knowledge about the incident. They have pledged to form an investigation team to identify and apprehend the responsible party.
An eyewitness reported the incident to 7DS GHTV, while Mr. Enoch Ofosu, the Environmental and Sanitation Health Officer for Asante Akyem South, informed Angel TV’s Oheneba Siaw that the child was already deceased by the time authorities arrived. To prevent similar occurrences, the wooden toilet facility was destroyed, and the pit was covered.
