Asante Kotoko Relieves Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum of IMC Role to Focus on Coaching
Kotoko Coach Dr. Prosper Ogum Removed from IMC Role to Prioritize Coaching
Asante Kotoko has officially relieved head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum of his duties on the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC). The decision, endorsed by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Manhyia Palace, aims to allow Dr. Ogum to focus solely on his responsibilities as the team’s head coach.
The move comes amid a challenging season for the Porcupine Warriors, who have struggled to find consistency in their performances. Dr. Ogum’s dual role on the IMC and as head coach had raised concerns about his ability to balance both tasks effectively.
Manhyia Palace Intervention
The IMC was part of a strategic restructuring plan to revamp the club’s management. However, the pressure to improve results on the pitch led Manhyia to adjust its strategy, prioritizing operational focus.
A club statement explained, “This decision allows Dr. Ogum to fully dedicate his efforts to his primary role as head coach, with a continued focus on leading the team to success on the pitch.”
Recent Developments and Outlook
Kotoko recently secured a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Aduana FC, ending a four-game winless streak. Despite this, the team sits seventh on the Ghana Premier League table, far below expectations.
Their upcoming clash with Hearts of Oak presents an opportunity to rebuild momentum and regain the trust of their passionate fan base.
As the IMC continues its leadership without Dr. Ogum, the head coach now shoulders the full weight of delivering success for the Porcupine Warriors.
