Anthony Joshua Survives Road Crash in Nigeria as Two Others Die
The boxing star sustained minor injuries after his convoy collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos–Ibadan expressway.

World heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal road accident on Monday morning along the Lagos–Ibadan expressway in Nigeria, an incident that claimed the lives of two people.
The crash occurred around 11:00 a.m. near Makun in Ogun State, close to the Sagamu Interchange, according to eyewitness accounts. The vehicle conveying Joshua, a Lexus SUV, reportedly collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that remain under investigation.
Joshua, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was rescued from the wreckage. He was part of a two-vehicle convoy, with a second SUV carrying his security detail following behind at the time of the accident.
Eyewitness Adeniyi Orojo, who took part in the initial rescue efforts, said there were four occupants in the Lexus vehicle. Two of them were pronounced dead at the scene, while others, including Joshua, were pulled out with the help of passersby before officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived.
Emergency responders later took control of the scene as traffic was briefly disrupted along the busy highway. The bodies of the deceased were removed, and the injured were given medical attention.
Fans and well-wishers have since taken to social media to express concern for the boxer’s safety, while Nigerian road safety authorities continue investigations into the cause of the crash.
Attempts to obtain further official updates from local traffic management authorities were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
